For the first time, I stopped the NaNoWriMo this year, at day 20. That was disappointing. I have to say that I had never gone into that month with so much written already, so I really thought it was going to go well. The real issue came from all the distractions. Primarily, not being satisfied with the writing environment. I love Scrivener, make no mistake. However, I just feel like I really want to have a place to keep everything in the cloud, and to have the versioning available in most of the Wiki environments. Plus, I want something that I can do tasks and reminders, like a ticketing system, live in the page. I finally manage to get TikiWiki arranged to do just that, and I am really pleased so far. I can also export structures as PDF and various other options. This makes me very happy, so I am going to do some practice writing using what I have so far, and see how it goes. Nothing is too exotic so far, so upgrades and such should not be a major issue.

I also am getting increasingly happy with my RaspberryPi personal server, which has been working very well with NextCloud, and Jupyter. Sadly, I can't get RStudioServer to work on it. Since this mini-version is so cool, maybe I will just graduate to a mini-computer setup basically the same way. Until then, I will just make do with what works in NextCloud and Jupyter.

I am actually pretty happy to be waiting to go back to work. I was sure I would be losing my mind, but I am still pretty happy with the things I am doing. It is looking like Spring next year for the gears to start turning again. The second wave of Covid is turning up now, just as forecasted because the restrictions were lifted too soon.

Gina and John are coming down here this year for Christmas, so we are looking forward to that, and we plan to take a little day trip to Key West so they can have a little look around. Need to find some things to see safely around here, and spot a few things down in Key West to keep us entertained.

We did go ahead and put the tree up early this year. It has been a shit year, and a little festivity actually brightens the evenings down here. A nice collection of acrylic icicles and snowflakes added a little more sparkle this year, which was great. One more trip to Vitambi to use the telescope is planned this weekend, so I can't wait to get out for a little more relief from the cabin fever.

In order to do so, I want to get the telescope controlled by the smaller RaspberryPi if at all possible. Will have to work on that tomorrow. Need to turn it into a hotspot and manage the imaging from the camera at the least, even if I can't get the mount to move remotely. Wonder if I can get the camera to be a remote source, and use the SharpCap on the laptop. Will probably have to use some software local on the Pi, will just have to play with that.
