Winston has completely consumed my spare time and thoughts. I have spent more time shopping and discovering better options that fit the demands of a Corgi than I ever imagined would be required. I have also watched endless training videos, problem solving tutorials, and ways to shape the behavior into something more socially tolerable. I totally understand that he is just a pup, and I don't want him to lose some of those traits through training it out of him. However, I can't help looking at some other dog owners that have obedience trained their dogs into a cat.

He is using his buttons properly, and finding other ways to use them to get our attention when he is ready to play. The very first kit I ordered has still not arrived, so I went ahead and ordered the tiles that would normally be included until it does finally get here. I am a little low on buttons too, so I had to pre-order another box of 18. He has 9 buttons on the board now. He really only uses three or so regularly. But, we continue to model the others.

I have him doing some nosework as well, and he is to the point where he sits when he smells the cloves in a steel spice shaker. I realized a little late that cloves are present in his dental chew, so now he tries to lick the shaker. Minor issue that will sort itself out when we get to the dummies. It may work synergistically since some training exercises involve feeding using a bowl with a false bottom holding the scent too.

I have let my computer stuff languish in all of this newfound literature and activities, so I need to get my list going again to keep myself on track, and add a new branch for Winston's curriculum so it can be managed as well in an integrated fashion.

I also have an extended stay planned on Solstice in the fall, so I need to prepare for the spare time I will have for that too. Writing, brainstorming, and creating will always be my favorite, but it can also turn me into a potato. I just need to have achievable, self-contained ideas that require little offsite access.
