I have been working non-stop it seems on my private cloud deployment. It has been exciting to learn so many new things, and discovering the stuff that I still need to take a deeper dive along the way. Initially I designed it for Spark and R data analysis. Of course, there are a lot of other things that it can do while I am at it. When the actual need for it to be a working platform, I kinda know what to do. But first, we build out the storage in small steps since that rules everything else. I am also taking the time to document some of the design choices, and how the various parts work together synergistically, and can spin-off services that would be handy around the house.

OpenStack was a great choice, and to have everything in the cloud running on Ceph is a really nice bonus. Plus, I have a distributed filesystem exposed and available for mounting on every other computer in the house, and replicated too. That's fantastic. plus, the networking components could be driven by an external virtual switch, which is totally cool for me to have an excuse to play with SDN servers and architectures.

I have been back into the groove for Solstice again, finalizing materials and schedules for all the resources and procedures. I am fervently scouring the ITCC for parts I need, and getting POs done is always a pain in the neck. I discovered today that my CAR is not open in JDE for purchasing. Joy. Hoping that gets done soon and we can get back on track.

I have been struggling it seems with communication. I need to start paying more attention to the completeness and relevance of the information I am sharing in order to reassure those not involved in the daily work about what's going on.

Joel has made his Thanksgiving plane for Missouri, and I will be home with Winston. I expect to be going to Solstice sometime right around then, so I wanted to be ready to go if the opportunity presents itself.

The time is getting close for spaces for an RV at Vitambi, so I am hoping we can get our savings back together to put a good chunk down on a nice trailer. I would love to have that kind of retreat available for weekends and maybe a light work week.
